zick analysis in a vessel on 3 supports
zick analysis in a vessel on 3 supports
(OP)
Dear Coleagues:
I'm a begginer in this kind of forum but i need a specific
help.
I'm checking effect due supports in equipment but this one have 3 support. I've calculated loads and moments due to weigth on each support using 3 moments methods (this equipments is almost simmetric, no changes in diameters or thickness).
Just when I try to apply zick analysis for to determine stresses on several parts of equipments i find doubts. I don't know exactly how this method could be applied but i guess I must take more loaded saddle and its neighbour and taking in account moments and loads on respective saddles and forcing the following equation to be equal to zero.
A^3+M*L/Q*A-0.5*R2 = 0
where A = distance between tangent line and support (it should be change to force this result, it is a iteration result of value)
M = moment on saddle
L = distance between saddles used in calculation
R = radius of vessel
with this value of "A" , I proceed to calculate all stresses.
Please, send me your oppinion about it or advise me another method to apply.
Thanks in advance for your best efforts and best regards
Luike

I agree with waskillywabbit (Mechanical) and I do have the Technical paper:

I often design above ground pipelines with the same problems. In a boiler (or pressure vessel) the span is usually quite small compared to a pipeline. However, in almost all pipelines, the design value is the sum of the uniaxial stresses, in the circumferential direction, in the vicinity of the saddle tip. I assume that the same condition applies in pressure vessels.

Sorry for disturbs i can cause and best regards

USE Eng-Tips Form: Advanced Search: "Zick" "saddles" "multiple" and you will find a lot of information.
