Biomass Boiler

Biomass Boiler

Biomass Boiler

(OP)
I am trying to figure out the emissions from a biomass boiler.  I have the composition of the fuel that is going to fire the biomass boiler in volume %.  I the exhaust from the boiler is going to drive the spray drier so I was wondering if there is a way to calculate these emissions from volume %.  I do not have the temperature at which the boiler flame will be running, I am just trying to get an idea of the emissions. SO2-.01%, O2-4.372%, N2-72.645%, CO2-8.829%, H2O- 14.144%, GCV-11136 BTU/lb.

RE: Biomass Boiler

You are going to need the flowrate on something, fuel, stack, somewhere to start a mass balance.

RE: Biomass Boiler

(OP)
Fuel feed for the boiler will be approximately 12,750 lb/hr, 425 cfh.

RE: Biomass Boiler

The only pollutant information you have provided so far is SO2 which is .01% and this is your answer.

There maybe some NOx formation, especially high temperature burning with excess air, fly dust.  There maybe other pollutants in your fuel, furans and dioxins may be formed, you need to get a good analysis of the fuel, too many unknowns.

RE: Biomass Boiler

I think you still need to change your composition in volume into a composition in mass so you can make the mass balance. maye you can sample your fuel and measure densities.
