"E" Rated Asian Motors?

"E" Rated Asian Motors?

"E" Rated Asian Motors?

(OP)
We recently installed a new hydraulic machine with a 20HP 208Y Motor on it.  During full pressure runs the motor draws
65-65-62 amps @ 119 Vac 60hz.  Considering the motors small size this seems excessive.  As this motor (no nameplate)was made in china could it be one of the E type sloppy import motors?  Seems I recall reading something a time ago about poor specs on asain motors.  Anyone have the same experience.

RE: "E" Rated Asian Motors?

If the motor is 20HP, 208V then this is the problem. You indicate the currents followed by @119Volts. Is the line voltage really 119? If so, then this is why you are pulling slightly higher than normal amps. I have no experience with E motors so I can't say if they have a sloppy design. Thanks, Buzzp

119 would be phase to ground.
