External Link Broken -

Hi all.
Hope all are having a good day.

Blimey Limey...How you been?

Please see the Moo Moo link.

Why is the link hanging on?

Why does SW hang onto the path (O:\SmarTeam\Work\OPERATOR CAB\SOLIDWORKS\R60341_R17054_101_REF.sldprt) even after I break all external links?  This causes problems once I delete the R60341_R17054_101_REF.sldprt  The problem arises when I perform a File/Find References on an assembly where this part is used.  The Find References window gets hung up in the attempt to locate the reference part even though all links to it were broken.

Hi JM,
Ok..so your saying I have to do this ( copies and pasted from your link)?

She needs to open the part and, wherever there's the external ref symbol, she'll need to edit the sketch/feature that contains the external ref. Click on the display/delete relations button and delete them from there. She'll be able to click on the drop down menu and filter the external references.

Thanks,

Rip

RE: External Link Broken -

That should do it, Rip. When you break the link, it leaves the reference dangling.
Seriously, unless absolutely necessary, I would avoid creating external links. There's a button on the 'Assemblies' tool bar to disable their creation. You'll still be able to see relationships, they just won't be kept.
