Rib sectioning question

Rib sectioning question

Rib sectioning question

(OP)
Thinking back to SW2005, does anyone know of a method that will display a section of a rib in old school drafting methods where the rib is sectioned and the surrounding material isn't or vice-versa?

Unfortunately, answers pertaining to newer versions will not be of assistance.

Thanks in advance.

RE: Rib sectioning question

My memory of '05 capabilities is rather fuzzy, but I think I have a work-around.
Create a configuration of the part. Create a cut that sections the rib. In your drawing, you can select that 'sectioned' area to be hatched. Maybe not the cleanest way to do it, but...

Cool.  Thanks. I considered that, decided that the whole exercise isn't worth the pain.  More than one way to skin the cat.

I'm thinking of just using a break-away view and stopping short of the rib.

RE: Rib sectioning question

I normally don't like to section ribs, so my way around it is just by clicking on the hatching inside the rib and selecting "none" for the hatch style in the selected region (over on the left side of the screen). Sorry I can't be more descriptive - I don't have Solidworks on the computer I'm using right now. I'm pretty sure this works in 2005.
