Evaluation of thermal properties of soil

Is there any procedure for evaluating thermal properties of soil?  In situ procedures are more preferable.

RE: Evaluation of thermal properties of soil

If you are trying to detect the fires of your landfill, i did once with an infrared camera that detect changes in temperatures.  Literally, like the Predator technology.  A grid was marked a the landfill surfaces in order to delimit fire concentrations.

Thanks Gimbli, however this one is related to another project not related to landfills. Still the method that you suggested might work.  Is there any spec or procedure for application of infrared camera? Any reference?

Thanks

RE: Evaluation of thermal properties of soil

Thermal properties of soil are important parameters in designing underground electric high votage power lines.
