Delrin
Delrin
(OP)
We make synthetic diamond caps. After we lap the diamond cap surfaces on all around the (its) cylinder, we use a steel gage to measure for tolerances. The steel gage tends to leave very small scratches on the diamond caps's mirror surface. It's not acceptable.
We're thinking of making these gages from delrin (durable) material. Does anyone know the proper properties of delrin that will work with fragile finishes (mirror-like)?
Please contact me.
Thank you!

Here is the site for Peek. This material will take a polish.

The same holds for Vespel from DuPont.

You might want to look at these products for polishing you materials.

Nylon 66 will also take a very good polish though not as rugged as some of the above. It might be candidate for a short use consumable.
