Symmetry Bolt

Symmetry Bolt

Does anyone have any experience with these (www.botex.us)?

I've seen information on Nordlok, Spiralock, etc. and was just wondering whether anyone has actually used these, or better yet, tested them to see how well they retain bolt tension?

RE: Symmetry Bolt

I bet a monkey with an impact wrench could strip the threads in short order.

Mint,

I don't foresee an application where I would specify these, but the concept seemed good (in theory).  My question was borne more out of morbid curiosity than anything else.

RE: Symmetry Bolt

It is almost mind-boggling how many different gimmicks there are in the broad category of threaded fasteners.  Has anyone ever heard of preload?

RE: Symmetry Bolt

I've seen them and played around with them a little bit, but I could not find anything to actually put them to use.  The bolts I had used UNC RH Threads and UNF LH Threads.

I guess I should state, that they made an interesting conversation piece when they were on my desk.  That was about it.

Taking the science out of rocket science...One step at a time.
