NCShane's engine dyno (thread71-174146 )

(OP)
Dear NCShane, I have seen your comment
It's an engine dyno. It's a 460 Hp 8000 RPM unit with GE drives and Schenck controls. Unfortunately the software is a bit outdated, but Horiba bought out Schenck and no longer supports the dyno control equipment.
I guess you got some failure information.
former Schenck Pegasus and HORIBA are one company today.
The Dyno control equipment is today still suported and more and more developed.
I don't know to which collegue you talked to.
Guess you should to to me about this issue.
Maybe you write some information what kind of engine dyno control you have.
check our website: horiba-ats.de

Mikelantis
I have a DC6000 controller with DynoCat PC interface. I was told that there was little support available for the DynoCat software. Are you still supporting this equipment/software?

NCShane,

sorry, but I never heard of this engine dyno controller.
I checked our old manufacturing database at the former Schenck headquarters that includes information about products that are more than 10 years old but with no result.
So I guess thats something real old or a regional solution.
I send that question to my collegues in US and Canada to see
what it is.
Maybe you can write down what you can see on the
type plate of your controller.
(serial / project number / ...)

RE: NCShane's engine dyno (thread71-174146 )

(OP)
guess now I know what it is after looking at old
pictures.
Controller:
- 19" rack, about 4 or more high units
- "Schenck Pegasus 6000 Digital Controller"
- on the left side: function keys.
- green / black screen
Software:
- Is it "DE-CAT"?: Data Editor - Computer Aided Testing?
with a red cat on the start screen?

I have got the information from my collegues in the US
about your controller + Interface.
- service/upgrade for this older type is difficult due to discontinued parts (e.g. you can not buy screens from the nineties anymore) but not in general impossible.
- for discussing technical things about this equipment,
you can contact for this special issue:
HORIBA Automotive Test Systems
http://www.ats.horiba.com/contacts.html
use the phone number of our office in Troy and
ask at switchboard for MrTrimble who can help you.
Best Regards from Germany...

RE: NCShane's engine dyno (thread71-174146 )

Hi Mikelantis,
Yes, that is the unit that I have with the DE-CAT software. For now the unit is working well, but as you say it's hard to get repair parts for it.
Thanks for the contact in the US. I'll give thema call if we run into any problems.
