Volumetric heave spec in UK

Volumetric heave spec in UK

Volumetric heave spec in UK

(OP)
The spec for highway works in the UK specifies a Gv of 3% for material with lime and/or hydraulic binder. Anyone know why it is set at 3%? I am doing some research on this test and find it hard to meet this criteria with the soils I am testing. They very rarely have a volumetric heave below 3% even though the CBR heave and strength is ok. Any thoughts??

RE: Volumetric heave spec in UK

Sounds like you need to sit down and discuss this with someone, are you UK based? See previous reply to BS EN 13286-49. ian_dot_gardner_at_xplor_dot_co_dot_uk
