Can anyone help me to model a skew bridge deck ( skew=30 deg.) and span 25m & width= 18m using SAP 2000 with FE.
I thought grid lines can be drawn at 25 deg. to vertical( say y-axis) but I could not do it.
Your help will be much appreciated

RE: SAP 2000

Try to drew deck in Autocad and then import it as *.dxf file. I think this will be the quickest way since SAP is very clumsy in drawing unregular things.

RE: SAP 2000

CSI has a created very powerful parametric bridge modeler that can be used to create these types of bridge geometries, to connect bridge decks to girders, to apply moving loads to shell elements, etc. etc.. There is a lot in there that can help you.

More info about it can be found here: http://www.csiberkeley.com/SAP/SAP_bridges.html .

RE: SAP 2000

saintmichelle, grid lines can be drawn at 25 degrees or whatever angle to whatever direction. Go to the Define menu>Coordinate systems/grids, then add a new system or add a copy of a system, and you can rotate that new grid/coordinate system about any axis however you want.
