Solid Works model to SE
Solid Works model to SE
(OP)
Sorry if this has been asked before but I did a search and couldn’t find it.
Is there any way to import a Solid Works model file into Solid Edge and actually have features you can edit?
The recognize feature (or whatever it’s called) functionality isn’t adequate for what we need to do.
We have a cast part (not sure if surfaced or swept or lofted protrusion) that needs some changes. It was originally SW while the rest of the pack is SE. We’d like to get it into native SE and if we can do it without recreating that would be good.
I’m pretty sure I’ve asked UGS directly about this before and they said no but I can’t recall for sure.
Thanks,
Ken

RE: Solid Works model to SE
when importing the format the history is lost like when
you import a neutral format.
To change the model you may use the direct edit features
SE supplies.

You take at look at the direct editing within Solid Edge.
There is some information in the help that should be able to get you started in modifying the imported part.

don, you confirmed what I thought happened but someone else said they thought there was a way so I wanted to check.

the 'Recognize Feature' is a complete different kind of
functionalty. With this feature you can manually try to
recreate the features a model has. In other words rebuild
the history.
The 'Direct Editing' allows you to change a feature without
the history i.e. resize holes, relocate faces and so on.
It comes in very handy sometimes and when you get a litte
feeling for it it's very easy to use, go figure.

I haven't used either much, certainly not looked at them recently.
