RE: Clean out material for injection rubber press

The use of a purging compound is usual.

RE: Clean out material for injection rubber press

The method I use is:

Run extruder until empty.
Purge injection pot.
Fill extruder with new compound and cycle compound into injection pot.
Purge pot.
Repeat.
Purge pot.
Run one cycle on automatic.  Check for odd looking defects.  If none, continue with production.

Purging with the new material usually works although it can be difficult when going from a hard to a soft compound. The problem is knowing for sure the unit is clean; it depend s on how critical it is. I have used uncured natural rubber cleanouts and EPDM cleanouts for critical jobs. No matter what you have to take the time to look around for hung up rubber. Sometimes pulling everything apart is necessary.

normally, the use of virgin resin (same with compound but no additive) is rent to pruge
