wheel spec
wheel spec

Lets say I was designing a 20" wheel for a car (like a Honda Civic, Acura, etc.). How would I decide the width of the wheel assuming low-profile tires? I am just wondering for a group project if there is a standard that must be followed.

RE: wheel spec
Alternatively you can get hold of the Tire and Rim Association yearbook, which costs about 35 bucks, contact details given in an earlier thread, which has a chart showing the recommended and permitted rim widths for a given tire width and aspect ratio. However, the latest I have is 1995 and it only goes up to 18 inch. There are various other figures given in that book which are required for packaging a wheel and tire (grown profiles and such like) which should also be useful to you.
