I AM INTERESTING IN TO KNOW ABOUT THE RECOMENDED BRANDS OF POWER ANALYSER AVAILABLES AT TRADE IN ORDER TO PERFORM A STUDY. THIS ANALYSER MOST BE CAPPABLE OF CAPTURE AND PROCESS ALL SIGNAL INLUDING TORQUE MEASSUREMENTS AND IS  FOR  USE IN A MOTOR TEST CENTER.

RE: POWER ANALYSER

I've always like Dranetz.

RE: POWER ANALYSER

Come on petronila!  You've been around long enough to know ALL UPPER CASE LETTERS is bad form...

If you can't do upper and lower case - then just do all lower case it is much easier to read then UPPER CASE.

RE: POWER ANALYSER

We use Drantez too. We do use this around various sites in the world and it is fairly straighforward to use. Only criticism is if you wish to share information with others who have the Dranetz software loaded (Dranetz view). If they happen to use an earlier/later version than you, there seems to be a real compatibility issue whereby you cannot see data loaded from < Dranview 5 with the latest Dranview 6 (I think this is the latest).
Not a problem if you are just using the analyser for your own info but if you have sites around the world providing data into one centre, it's a problem.
However, this aside, its a good device.

RE: POWER ANALYSER

I use Dranetz PowerPlatform 4300. Not because I like it very much, but because most customers know about it.

But, there are several problems. The non-existing sw compatibility backwards and forwards is one. The lack of anti-alias filters is another. I often get lots of even harmonics when looking at voltages where PWM inverters are connected. The reason is that high frequency components are folded down under the Nyquist frequency and are interpreted as odd AND EVEN harmonics. It does not only increase the apparent odd harmonics level, it also introduces even harmonics where there cannot (for physical resons) be any.

I also find the software updates pricey and I suspect that the lack of fw/bw compatibility is a policy used to force updates.

There are many other brands that not only behave better. They also cost less and the support is usually also better.

RE: POWER ANALYSER

Voltech's PM6000 is probably worth a look.

We have one of the earlier PM3000's and it is a good instrument, if a little dated by the latest designs with LCD touch screens and the like. Voltech usually have a loan instrument for potential clients to try out. I would be amazed if Yokogawa and Dranetz do not offer the same service.

RE: POWER ANALYSER

For PWM based drive systems we found that the most capable analyzer is YOKOGAWA PZ4000 (harmonics up to 500th order and FFT in the range up to 2.5 MHz).
