shape of closure on open-closed resonator

shape of closure on open-closed resonator

shape of closure on open-closed resonator

(OP)
I have an open-close relative wide resonator, 7.5? in diameter. above it, there is "a big idiophone bar". first two frequencies of this bar are tuned in interval of 12th.

also, open-closed resonator´s first two freq. are in 12th.

resonator should support bars in volume, they should resonate

so, closure must be:

-flat?
-convex?
-concave?
-shape of sinx+sin3x???

Which will support sistem better, the best?

Thanks,m

RE: shape of closure on open-closed resonator

He's talking about a musical instrument, with bars that are struck to make a noise, eg xylophone.

RE: shape of closure on open-closed resonator

embe,

Here is a reference for resonant tubes:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acoustic_resonance

A closed tube with a flat end is probably better. A loose/flexible hanging support from the tube wall is probably better than a rigid support. I am a acoustics guy with no musical instrument experience.

doesn´t hanging support loose more energy as time goes by??
