Shrink Fit in WB

Shrink Fit in WB

Shrink Fit in WB

(OP)
Hi, I'm fairly new at WB, actually FEA in general.  I'm doing a shrink fit analysis of two rings.  The outer ring is shrink fitted onto the inner.  In my 3D model, I already model the shrink fit.  When I import it into WB, is there any special thing I need to do to let WB know that it is a shrink fit?

RE: Shrink Fit in WB

Just make sure to flag "Include initial penetration"...other than that things should be fine at their defaults.  Make sure that the radial displacements make sense after the analysis as a reality check.

I used the contact tool to let ANSYS know that there is an interference.  Under the "Initial Information", it shows a spread sheet.  What is the difference between Penetration, Geometric Penetration, Resulting Pinball and Contact Depth?  So far, the Geometric Penetration matches what I had in my 3D model, but everything else doesn't really make sense to me.
