Hello all,

I am modeling a one story bay using a buckling restrained brace.  this is a brace that as the name implies is restrained from buckling.  There is an inner core made of steel.  It is encased by concrete and then an outer tube made of steel.  there is a debonding agent around the inner core of steel so it doesn't adhere to the concrete.  this setup makes is so the steel won't buckle in compression.  I do not want to model the tricky contact problems.  I am using solid elements.  Is there anyway to keep the inner steel core rigid using boundary conditions, constraints, etc?  I am using displacemnt boundary conditions to move the brace 1 percent drift.  The problem is the brace bends upon displacement in sort of an "S" shape.
