In Sour service
In Sour service
(OP)
Where as ISO 15156 clearly recommends users of equipment to analyze and come to conclusion on selection of material it also suggests HIC occurance in Carbon Steel material and suggests some limits on sulfur.
The Question
1) The Table 1 of ISO 15156 lists the item that are under ISO 15156 and exempted items.
Does the term "Equipment" limit the application to the Equipments and exempt the piping items.
In other words, is the application limited to vessels and machinery and NOT ANSI B 31.3 piping fabrication and pipes/Flanges/Fittings? Are the piping items exempt from application of ISO 15156?
2) Considering the section 8 of ISO 15156: As a user who has opted to apply ISO 15156 for sour service, is it mandatory that the user specify HIC testing for items made from plates, examples piping (B 31.3) items made from plate?
3) As a User of equipment (In sour service and has decided to apply compliance to ISO 15156)Is it necessary, to apply limits on sulfur % for piping itmes such as seamless pipes, forging, fitting, flanges?
4) If as a user of the equipment, i do not make explicit expression on limits and criteria given in section 8 of ISO 15156-2, for carbon steel items, but simply specify to the manufacturer of the item that all material shall comply with ISO 15156, is it necessary for the item manufacturer/supplier to comply with the limits on sulfur so that the item can be certified meeeting the ISO 15156 requirement?
