CAD should pay for itself, shouldn't it?

RE: FILENAME IN THE DRAWING

I know, it should be somewhere in the attributes, butwhere...to make it more complicated...we use drawings as a separate files with part itself assembled...and i need to have there the file name of the imported part...

I have managed to get the attributes, that I create, but not the file name itself

RE: FILENAME IN THE DRAWING

OK, in UGS NX 5 we have implemented special 'smart text' for things like that and while this function is new to NX 5 some of them actually worked in older releases as they were alreay implemented, just not documented.  Now I've not verified whether this is one of them or not, but in NX 5 the special text string that would give you the part name of the master part (what you called the "imported part") is <W@$SH_MASTER_PART_NAME>.  Just insert that text string in the in the note where you wish the part file name to appear.

I should have mentioned the UG version that I am using...its NX 3...I have tried it with the note, but it doesnt work...
is there a chance that for example if you create an attribute in the part called file name and define it as a string that for example @file_name would work??? it was just the example this particular expression does not work :o(
