Calculation of Spade Thickness

Calculation of Spade Thickness

(OP)
Gentleman,

I want to calculate the min required thickness of carbon steel spade to insert between flanges for shutdown isolation work.
Flange size is 4" #600, natural gas pressure is 70 barg. Can someone advise please.
Thank you very much.

Thank a million.

Everybody please share whether in your engineering/standard practice. On shutdown turnaround, in case entry of static equipments, should we install temporary spade/blind that the thickness comply to ASME B31.3 para 304.5.3 if we have blocked typical block valve already.

Is thin blind be acceptable in your standard practice?

Pongsagon.

RE: Calculation of Spade Thickness

I would design the blind for full pressure. I would not rely on one block valve.

You can also refere to ASME B16.48 giving pre engineered blank dimensions, materials and ratings.
