Does anybody know, if I create the margin lines for ordinate dimensions, how can I delete them or reposition???

RE: margin lines in drafting

It would be nice to know which version of NX you're using.

Do you have the documentation installed?  If so, did you try looking there?  In case you don't have the docs installed, here are some How To's from the NX5 docs:

Moving an Ordinate Set Origin:

1. Activate the Ordinate Set whose origin you want to move.

2. With the cursor over the origin, right-click and choose Move Origin.

3. Use Snap Point options to select a new origin.

To move an ordinate margin:

1. Activate the Ordinate Set whose margin you want to move.

2. With the cursor over the margin, right-click and choose Move.

3. Enter a new value in the dynamic Offset box.

4. Click the middle mouse button.

Tip:  The offset value is measured from the views center. A positive value moves the margin away from the center. A negative value moves the margin toward the center.

To delete an Ordinate Margin:

1. Activate the Ordinate Set whose margin you want to delete.

2. With the cursor over the margin, right-click and choose Delete. Results: the system immediately deletes the margin.

If you're using NX3 or higher (and maybe older NX versions as well), keep in mind that nowadays you can USUALLY select an object then MB3 over it and options may appear on the MB3 pulldown (Edit, Delete, Style, etc.).  You might be able to figure things out by keeping that in mind.

Hope this helps.

Some people are like slinkies....they don't really have a purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

I am using NX 3

RE: margin lines in drafting

(OP)
MB3 doesnt really work on this one...you cant even see all the margin lines at the same time unless you start automatic dimensioning...i have managed to replace the margin line, but not to delete...

RE: margin lines in drafting

(OP)
no option to delete the line is even mentioned in the help...

RE: margin lines in drafting

Keep in mind, my suggestions were from NX5, not NX3.  I posted the above because I wasn't sure how long it would take for you to respond.

I'll check the NX3 docs...there may not be an option for what you want to do.  I am fairly sure the Ordinate Dimensioning has been improved since NX3, hence the differences between what you're seeing and the above sections that were taken from the docs.

Here's a PDF of the NX3 docs describing how to Change or Replace a margin:

thanks for that, but I have managed to do that...then...I am just unable to delete them clown

RE: margin lines in drafting

How about this (which was found by searching the documentation for 'delete margin')?:

http://rapidshare.com/files/44989610/NX3_Edit_Margin.pdf.html

Make note there are 4 pages to the PDF as well as the DELETE option on the menu shown in the PDF(presumably for DELETING MARGINS).

do you have the pdfs of the manual?

RE: margin lines in drafting

There isn't a "manual", only a documentation CD/DVD, which you should probably be able to get rather easily from UGS....that is if you're using a legit copy of NX.

No, I do not have a PDF of all the docs.  I searched the docs for your question and made a PDF of the section I felt would answer your question.  If the docs were a single PDF file, it would be massive in size.

Its a pitty, I have pdf manuals for Proe and its very useful.

RE: margin lines in drafting

I have the Docs for NX and they are very useful...probably more useful than your Pro/E pdf manuals as far as using NX is concerned.

Format doesn't matter (in my opinion), it's whether you have them or not that counts.  It's not like you cannot get them for NX if they aren't in PDF format is it?  Didn't think so.  No pity necessary. winky smile
