P22 Creep Data Request
P22 Creep Data Request
(OP)
Does anyone know of any good P22 creep data that I might be able to get a hold of? Specifically I am looking for the effects of creep if you increase the operating temperature from 900F to 950F for P22. I found some data on creep for P22 tubing in terms of time to rupture (hr) vs. test temperature (C), as well as stress (MPa) vs. test temperature (C), but I am not sure how to interpret the results as they are widely varying, especially for the time to rupture (hr) vs. test temperature (C). This particular graph (semi-log) shows a wide range of failure times at a particular temperature. For example, at T=500C, the data points for time to failure seems to range from approximately 200 hr all the way up to 200,000 hr, which doesn't make a lot of sense. If anyone has any good information or can point me into the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

RE: P22 Creep Data Request
What you really need are creep deformation rates for P22, not specifically creep rupture times. A good source of creep deformation data for Grade 22 material can be obtained in;
STEAM by Babcock and Wilcox Co
Damage Mechanisms and Life Assessment of High-Temperature Components by Viswanathan
Literature Survey on Creep Damage in Metals by ASTM, STP-391 Publication
for creep rupture properties as a function of temperature
The Grade 22 alloy Handbook from EPRI

British Standard PD6525 contains Creep Data and LM curves for a number of material including P22 material both normalised and annealed versions.
