Further to the original question... Does anyone know of a site where there are AutoCAD drawings showing switches, crossing tracks and road/rail crossings?

RE: Information Required

EaglePoint was developing a Rail Design Package a few years ago, but it was dropped before release.  A Google search also didn't yield much, but http://webtools.uiuc.edu/blog/view?topicId=750.  I'm not aware of readily available AutoCAD templates.  We've generated them on a case by case basis from AREMA over the years.
