sheet metal dimple

Is it possible to create a sheet metal dimple with 2 different depths? I need a dimple with a dimension of 5.25x3 but with one half at .82" deep and the other half at about .44" deep. The halves are separated by a 45 degree slope.

Pretty much like this picture shows....

Thanks! I'm using V15.....

RE: sheet metal dimple

Tom,

SE does not allow you to create a dimple with different depths. You will have to switch to part evnironment to create it by part features.

RE: sheet metal dimple

Tom,

First you *can* make a dimple in a dimple. To get close
to what you try to achive here is one sample in V19-Format:

Dimple in Dimple

it's a little bit tricky -- I've rolled back the features
so you can step forward one at a time

Oops! I've overlooked that you are using V15 -- then this
approach won't work because some features are not available
in V15.

RE: sheet metal dimple

Tom,

so that you have at least a model, below find the one now
in Parasolid V15 that you should be able to open.
Open with file type set to .x_t and then select normal.psm as
target format.

Dimple in dimple (Parasolid)

BTW: in the othe one in V19 format the second dimple must
be recomputed otherwise it won't show up

RE: sheet metal dimple

Tom,

here is the model in V14 Format, someone with V14 did
it for me. It follows Chens' suggestion.

Don, the Parasolid link does not seem to work....
By the way, thanks for all the replies....

RE: sheet metal dimple

Tom,

I've deleted it because you can use the one of my last
post. The Parasolid one would have given you a dumb
solid only without any history -- so not very useful.
And those who have V19 can use the full model.
BTW: modeling it in part used far fewer steps then
to model it as 2 dimples ...

.... so I guess modeling it in part is the way to go...

Thanks guys.
