Finite Element Analysis Theory & Application with ANSYS (Worth buying?

Hello,

Im planning to by "Finite Element Analysis Theory & Application with ANSYS by Saeed Moaveni".  Before I shell out $139 for it, can anybody tell me if it is worth it?

Thanks!

RE: Finite Element Analysis Theory & Application with ANSYS (Worth buying?

I bought this book a few years back and to be honest I wasn't that impressed with it.  If you want to learn about the FE method the books by O.C. Zenkiewicz are at the top of their class.  If you want to learn Ansys I'd simply recommend you get your hands on a student version of it and go through various tutorials available on the internet.  By simply using the program and poking around in the GUI and help you'll stumble upon the things that you need in way more depth than any book could ever cover.  Just my thoughts.

Thanks Stringmaker for responding.  I have the full blown ANSYS on my desk top, so I can start poking around.  I'm really a Pro Mechanica guy so I know what I want, just a matter to get over the learing curve.  Do you have any websites that you can recomend besides Ansys.com?

Thanks

If you search this forum this subject has been covered several times.  Also, search google or yahoo for "Ansys tutorial" and you should come up with more material that you can shake a stick at.

Thanks
