After market Cruise Controls Scion xB? exist?

After market Cruise Controls Scion xB? exist?

(OP)
I have a 2006 Toyota/Scion xB and would like to add an after market cruise control. I was told that newer cars can't just add them due to computer controls. Any chance of adding one to my xB?

Thanks,
kch

RE: After market Cruise Controls Scion xB? exist?

Do you have an actual throttle cable? Or is it drive by wire? If the latter, and it probably is, then I think you are pretty much out of luck, but I would have thought the factory one could be retrofitted, it is only a software change and the controls.

Cheers

I'm pretty sure it's been done

Try checking out scionlife.com or some other scion specific sites.

Thanks for the website tip.
Sounds like there was an option in 2004, seems possible that some dealers were putting them in the cars without permission from Scion.
It's been a worry for me since you can go from 65-80 fairly easily if you're not paying attention to the speedometer, especially in LA freeway traffic. Bonehead move by Toyota not having it as an option.

Thanks,
kch
PS: I'll check for a cable, I'd bet there is one.
