Fast bonding adhesive

Fast bonding adhesive

Fast bonding adhesive

(OP)
I am doing R&D work on magnets and I wish to bond Ni plated magnets to polycarbonate in many different configurations.  I need a fast adhesive so that I can place and bond many different configurations in a reasonable amount of time.  10-20 sec. per magnet. Currently I am using cyanoacrylate. This has poor bonding to magnet and poor gap filling when shapes get complicated.  I also tried an acrylic with primer which was too slow.  A UV set adhesive sounds good except for the expense of the lamp.
Know of any adhesives out there?

Thanks.

RE: Fast bonding adhesive

How about hot-melt?  It's not particularly strong, but it meets your time requirement.

RE: Fast bonding adhesive

I have used a "thick" super glue with a spray on accelerant with great success on many different surfaces.  Put the thick - almot gel glue on one surface - spray the other and connect the two pieces together.  About 10 seconds later - it is glued and I mean glued!!!

It is used on model RC airplanes quite a bit and is available at any good hobby shop.  Sorry - I do not have the name.

But is worth a try.  Good luck

RE: Fast bonding adhesive

alansimpson, I would contact 3M, Loctite or another adhesive mfg, they can tell all. Ask for an apps engineer.

Regards,

Mike
