Boy, I soent a good deal of time today trying & failing to model what should be quite simple. After all, it's a very common feature in sheet metal parts. Please see linked image:

I tried many times to model these slots with bends & eventually resorted to using forming tools. Even this was pretty touchy & took some trial & error.

Does anyone know of a 'proper' way to model this feature? How can it be done quickly & easily?

Thanks for any advice!

RE: Slide Slot Workaround

Your link doesn't work.

RE: Slide Slot Workaround

The link was working earlier from my home PC.

Jianju ... Why "eventually resorted to using forming tools"? The Bridge Lance would have been my very first choice.

cheers

CBL, I see your point. I'm still getting familiar with the features in Solidworks, & this is the first time I've used forming tools. First time I've worked with sheet metal too, for that matter. Most of the stuff I've done so far has been MEMS, super tiny. Still, I needed to model custom form tools for this 'bridge lance'. Now I know the proper term. Thanks again, my friend!
