Back about 25 years ago, I contacted an organization called the JIC. (Joint Industrial Council) to obtain standards for electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic machine controls and was able to purchase these standards. I have since lost them. I tried searching the Internet for a reference to JIC, their standards, etc. and couldn't find anything. Can someone tell me if they still exist and are standards available?

Here is an article I have on the JIC:

These standards are referenced widely.  The documnet itself state that conformance to JIC standards is strictly vountary.  It basiclly assures that a machine and/or its controls are "bullet-proof".  Its origins are in the automotive industry and was written for mass production equipment and machine tools.  It does not address advances in component technology or wiring methods.  JIC standards are similar to NFPA 79.  Because JIC standards are not regularly (in fact, rarely) updated, NFPA 79 is a better standard to reference.
