Broken Pack-and-Go?

Broken Pack-and-Go?

Broken Pack-and-Go?

(OP)
I was having problems with SW Explorer.  SW Explorer was having trouble finding all references for a file, sometimes not even finding a file that I could find manually.

I tried all kinds of things: monkeying w/ Windows indexer, writing API to replace search functions.  Today I seem to have found the answer...

Under Windows (XP Professionall) Control Panel --> Add/ Remove Programs, select SW Explorer.  There is a link named "Click here for support information", click it.  Then, click the "Repair" button.

Took about 30 seconds, then all was well.  Where-used and Pack-and-Go working as-advertised.

RE: Broken Pack-and-Go?

That's good to know, Tick.

I wonder if that works for other ailments?

cheers

Short-lived triumph.  Pack-and-Go back to its old tricks: unable to find drawings on network drive (no PDM).  I was so hopeful!

RE: Broken Pack-and-Go?

Have you setup your References/where used paths? There is an option at the bottom you might check and add the paths to the servers directly:

Include SolidWorks File Locations->Referenced Documents folders. Searches folders that you specify for Referenced Documents in the File Locations Options dialog box in the SolidWorks application.

You might want to also setup your paths in the search location as well...

Search paths are setup.  I also tried setting the paths manually in SW Explorer.  No dice.  All that does is force it to look twice and still not find.

I wonder if this is a Windows indexing issue.  It seems to happen with network drives.  Local drive = no problem.

It worked when I first started this gig.  Stopped working right 2 months after I started.

I did this before.  Just checked the options.  Got the paths mapped for both Search Folders and Referenced Docs.  No go.
