Dear experts,
I have a very special problem of routing a pipe of 32" size in over head pipe. The problem is associated with routing of the pipe in an existing complex. There I can not make platform/rack and therefore, I have to put local supports based on stress analysis.

The contractor involved suggested to drop the pipe vertically with a 90 degree bend at perticular location to clear from clashing with a existing structure but I suggested to roll the pipe in a vertical plan for about 10 meter of horizontal distance and 5 meter vertical distance.

In any case both system pass stress analysis by Ceasr-II software.

The contractor involved informed that considering complete life cycle of the plant the rolling I suggested is not advisable as this may lead to vibration related issue.

Can any body suggest me which option is better? Because the option I suggested allow me to have BOP at much higher elevation.

Can any body suggest codes and practice with respect to supporting of a piping system.

       I do not fully understand your description but I would ask your Contractor how he knows that rolling the pipe will cause problems. Has he performed an analysis of the pipework or is it just preferred engineering? You need to ask the Contractor to prove himself?

On another note, rolling is not preferred for plant work because it tends to block pipeway access when making future additions.  Maybe of concern, or maybe not.

Good point, BigInch (SOP for piperacks, but maybe this line is lonely). A rolled configuration would also be more rigid, I'd think.

You don't really give a lot of detail. Are you talking about an overhead line off the top of a column? If so it's normal to drop the line down the side of the column and hard supporting from the vessel near the top head and guiding as required from the vessel.

Besides thermal growth you need to consider wind and seismic as applicable. Your top nozzle will be moving laterally several inches during these events so you don't want your piping so tight that it will act as a vessel restraint by not giving that top nozzle some freedom.
