Tape Measure Tool

Tape Measure Tool

Tape Measure Tool

(OP)
Hi,
I'm trying to use the tape measure tool in a 2D drawing and notice it doesn't work on centerlines. Am I missing something here? I select both centerlines that I want to measure, and then select the measure tool, and the display box is empty.

The centerlines were created using the centerline function, not created manually though the line function.

RE: Tape Measure Tool

MacDuff,
I don't think you're missing anything, it's just the way it is. You can't grab the centerline in the measure tool.

There are 2 relatively easy work-arounds

1) Instead of using the measure tool, just create a dimension between the 2 centerlines. This will give you the distance, and then you can just delete it.

2) As you mentioned, you can create the centerlines with the line funstion and constrain them to the center of the holes. Then you can use the measure tool.

Obviously it would be a lot easier if it would just let you measure the centerlines, but they have to leave room for improvement in future versions.
