Importing Pro-E files

Importing Pro-E files

Importing Pro-E files

(OP)
Up until a few days ago I was able to import Pro-E files. This morning I attempted to import a Pro-E file I received this morning and nothing happens. I cleaned out all temp folders, scanned the hard drives, and re-booted. After all this was done I attempted again and no luck: the same problem. In the meantime I tried to import previous Pro-E files mentioned earlier and imported with no problems. I passed the files in question on to my colleague and he was successful. He has a seat of SW '07 and we compared basic setups and they seem to be the same. There is something I'm overlooking but I'm not seeing it. All help & tips much appreciated.

Thanks.

RE: Importing Pro-E files

What version of Pro/E were the original files?  I don't think WF3 files import into SW.

RE: Importing Pro-E files

So was your colleague able to import the files that you couldn't? If so, what Service Pack is he using?

I don't know what version; I'll have to ask the customer.

josephv:
yes, my colleague opened them successfully. He has my specs: SW '07 SP 2

Thanks to both of you for your input.

RE: Importing Pro-E files

Here is something you may want to try:

1)Copy your settings into a REG file using the Copy Settings Wizard

2) Copy your colleague's settings into a REG file using the Copy Settings Wizard

3) Transfer your colleague's settings into your machine by double clicking your colleague's REG file (SolidWorks must be closed)

4) Try to import the Pro/E files

5) To reset your original settings simply double click on your original REG file (SolidWorks must be closed)

If you still have problems, you may want to do a repair install.

Hey josephv.

Thanks for your tips. I'll give them a try.

Thanks again.
