Need ASTM/SAE equivalent for a UNI material

Need ASTM/SAE equivalent for a UNI material

(OP)
Hello all.  I've got a question regarding the UNI designation of a specific steel.  We just got an Italian customer who specified the use of "52 SCN 5 UNI. S119" material.  This material is per the UNI standard, correct?  What is the material equivalent in SAE or ASTM?  Just need to know the particulars for this material but have come up empty on the web.  Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Need ASTM/SAE equivalent for a UNI material

I don't believe that the UNI standard provided to you is correct.  52 SiCrNi 5 according to UNI 3545 is a spring steel grade that is alloyed with Si, Cr, and Ni.  52 SCN 5 is the old French designation according to AFNOR NF A 35.  There is no exact SAE equivalent.  The composition is similar to 9254 according to SAE J404, with somewhat lower C and some Ni added to it.  The composition is as follows:

C = 0.49-0.56
Si = 1.20-1.50
Mn = 0.70-0.90
Cr = 0.70-1.00
Ni = 0.50-0.70
P & S = 0.025 max
