monoethylene glycol pump
monoethylene glycol pump
(OP)
In a system I have a mono ethylene glycol 60% water 40%.
The fluid is runing from -20 to -5 °C flow is 45 m3/hour and spectec head 22 meter water column .
Despite this data I need to know how to choose the proper pump and spec it as handling water.
Thanks in advance

RE: monoethylene glycol pump
The pump manufacturer will have to select a suitable material and mechanical seal assembly to handle the product at -20'C
Hope this answers your query ?????
RE: monoethylene glycol pump
I will state it as follow , for a given pump spec handling water at 20ºC normal atmosferic pressure.Guess one of it`s point says it can handle 45 m3/hour at 22 meter water head .
What will be the flow and head pressure aviable if the fluid is monoethylen glicol at -18ºC?
RE: monoethylene glycol pump
There could be 02 questions:
1. What is the best selection for this application?
Materials, for -18C (-0.4 F). From -20 F, normal
materials should be used. Low Carbon Steel and
Low Carbon Stainless Steel should be considered as alternative if temperature decreases.
2. What happen with fluid and performance at -18 C?
For 40%, Freezen point is -20.6 C, GE is 1.032, and Cp is about 60, so you should derate your rated point in
about 5% in Head and about 15% in Power Rating for
viscous derating.

That´s is for the pump , but the motor will not be the same, As the power is flow times head times specific gravity .
