Does anyone know of a good overhead crane frame design reference?

Thanks.

RE: Overhead Crane Frame Design Reference

Hello,

You can check out this publication for free from the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction:

http://www.cisc-icca.ca/files/publications/techpubs/design/craneguide/cranesupportingsteelstructures.pdf

There are two big and complete design examples all the way at the end. Of course, this publication follows the Canadian Code though I'm sure there are a lot of great information that you can pick out even if you happen not to follow the Canadian Code.

If you are a member of AISC, you will be able to find similar guides for free.

RE: Overhead Crane Frame Design Reference

Try Crane Manufacturer's Association of America (CMAA) documents

CMAA 70 - Top Running Bridge & Gantry Type Multiple Girder Electric Overhead Traveling Cranes

CMAA 74 - Top Runing & Under Running Single Girder Electric Traveling Cranes Utilizing Under Running Trolley Hoist.

Section 3 of both documents gives structural requirements for design.  There are multiple posts on this forum about crane design if you search for them.
