Importing files from other source to SAP2000

(OP)
SAP2000 Users: I just started to use this software and I am wondering about the possibility to import drawing files from other source, let's said Autocad, into SAP2000

RE: Importing files from other source to SAP2000

I've never tried it, but SAP2000 Version 10 has an "Import AutoCAD DXF File" command on the File Menu.

I tried this with ETABS a few years ago and seem to remember it working ok.

RE: Importing files from other source to SAP2000

rogelio,

You could import a DXF file from autocad. you should draw the entire structure in any layer except the 0. Start the drawing form the 0,0,0 coordinate. i don´t remeber very well but i think that when you import the file, sap ask you in what direction the vertical axis is defined.
I hope that this could be helpful.
