Adaptive Meshes

Adaptive Meshes

(OP)
Hi eveyone,

I'm trying to understand how to use the ALE Adaptive Mesh feature.  I want to implement it on a simple cantilever beam with a rectangular cross section.  When I run the simulation however, I get the error saying: "ADAPTIVE MESH CONSTRAINT OPTION MAY NOT BE USED IN ANALYSIS WITH LINEAR GEOMETRY."  What does this mean and how can I fix the problem?  What simple procedures should I follow to apply an adaptive mesh to a part?  I would appreciate any help on adaptive meshes.

Thanks,
AY

RE: Adaptive Meshes

Does LINEAR GEOMETRY mean the NLgeom option is off and need to turn on? just my gusses....

RE: Adaptive Meshes

Yoman is right
there is no need to use adaptive meshing in linear geomtry. The goal of adaptive meshing is to update your mesh that has been excessively distorted due to the large deformation. This is very clear in the manual. So you have to activate NLgeom option

Thanks for the feedback.  I've tried entering NLGEOM=yes, and I still get the same error.
