Straw Poll - Welding Consumable Certification
Straw Poll - Welding Consumable Certification
(OP)
Quick question (aimed principally at Oil & Gas but other industries are welcomed to respond):
For safety critical equipment, what type of welding consumable certification do you require, e.g. ISO 10474 2.2, or EN 10204 3.1 etc etc.
Just interested to see the responses (feel free to give a justification for the choice of type if you have the time!)
Many thanks

RE: Straw Poll - Welding Consumable Certification
Normally what I have seen with the owner company's I work for is simply the requirement for the contractor to show that the consumables are supported by the manufacturer's MTR's and that they are controlled to maintain batch traceability to the MTR's. And consumable handling in accordance with AWS D1.1/D1.1M.

My experience has been they start out with a position based on 3.1 and require actual batch testing. Have seen the occasional deviation request for a 2.2 interpretation, and in the past I have seen it given.
