Distributing coupling elements

Distributing coupling elements

Distributing coupling elements

(OP)
If i have to transmit an equivalent load(moment+force) from a reference node to the nodes of a half circular surface.(outer ring 480 mm, inner ring 435 mm), should this reference node be at the centroid of the surface?? and is it necessary to use a cylindrical Coordinate system for coupling?

RE: Distributing coupling elements

tito662,

The coordinate system does not matter. But the node should be at the centroid in the plane of circle. The third dimension of the reference node would not matter.

RE: Distributing coupling elements

If it is half circle, I think the force and moment need to be half too.
Are you modelling with shell or solid?
Also. do u need to model ovaility at the pipe end too?
