Strut and Tie for pile cap

Strut and Tie for pile cap

Strut and Tie for pile cap

(OP)
Hi all
i have a  column supported on pile cap for 2 piles

when i checked ACI02  15.15.3 i found that i can use strut and tie model for this pilecap, when i followed the procdures for calculating the nodal dimensions i found that i am having dimensions for Hz chode for column node more than column dimension which can not be!

so what can be the main problem?, i think that i am having high forces on this pile cap.

is there any other ST model i can assume?

Note: i assumed normal V shape path for ST and the angle was angle to 41 between the chords

RE: Strut and Tie for pile cap

Sounds like you need to make your pile cap deeper or increase your concrete strength.

It looks like it is as simple as that.
