Quality of animation output in NX3

Quality of animation output in NX3

(OP)
Hi Folks

I'm pretty new to UG (still going through CAST) but I'm starting to get the hang of things. Normally I use Pro/E but this project requires me to do most of the work in NX3.

I'd like to send our prospective client an animation generated in NX3. The animation shows the motion of a mechanism along with a few assembly steps. It's pretty straightforward and I've managed to generate an MPG.

I've found that the graphical quality of the animation leaves much to be desired. I'd rather send the client a high resolution video so that they can see the workings of the mechanism a bit better.

Can anyone offer me advice for increasing the resolution of the video output? I've tried searching for past topics with no luck.

Thanks in advance

Relatively expensive I know, but I'd have to recommend Camtasia Studio for recording from Unigraphics. Multiple outputs are available and the quality is excellent.

If you have the high quality Photo Realistic imaging in NX then you should get a High Quality image from the animation tool.
an example I created http://images.myigetit.com/motor.mpg

Another option is to use Snagit from www.techsmith.com
You can capture .avi images very easily and much cheaper than Camtasia.  Now if you want to edit the video later then Camtasia is the best tool I have found.

Thanks for the responses so far.

joycejo: The quality of that video is right around what I am looking for. Unfortunately I don't have the photo realistic imaging module with the current licensing available to me.

While Camtasia/Snagit are probably the best alternatives, I'm  pretty certain that the boss will not spring for it (insert long story here). We had snagit at a past company and I used it almost daily.

The videos I am generating are at a resolution of 352x240... I'm wondering if I'm missing some sort of preferences setting to bump this up to 800x600 or 1024x768?

RE: Quality of animation output in NX3

You can download at 30 day trial of snagit it's only $39.95
Is you boss that Cheap?

I was looking at Camtasia, but yeah, on this project I'm essentially required to make this happen with shoelaces and duct tape.

RE: Quality of animation output in NX3

You can set the resolution size of the animation file. On the High quality animation dialog click on Parameters. Set the size to User Defined and enter the Horizontal and Vertical size (pixels)
