MrSID plug-in & DOQQ images in CAD

MrSID plug-in & DOQQ images in CAD

(OP)
Can anyone offer any advice on where to find a simple AutoCAD plug-in that will allow me two functions:

1) to insert (externally reference) MrSID (*.sid) high-resolution orthoquads into a drawing, and

2) have this image inserted to its georeferenced coordinates.

I have the freeware MrSID viewer from Lizardtech, and it will export TIFF images with coords, but the file sizes are huge.  The MrSID compression would allow several images to be inserted rather than a small portion of one.

Any and all help is appreciated.

RE: MrSID plug-in & DOQQ images in CAD

CadOverlay 2000i (not 2000) as well as Raster Design3 will import SIDs into Acad.  Otherwise you will have to deal with the TIFF files.  Currently I am importing 0.5m aerials into CAD. Each aerial is 125MB, but Acad does tend to handle them without too much delay.  You really just have to learn how to move about without regenerating too often.  Techniques of not loading the TIFFs you aren't using right then or placing them on frozen layers.
For Georeferencing the best is to have CadOverlay or CadMap.
