Online Tie-In for DCS/SGS

Online Tie-In for DCS/SGS

(OP)
Hi,

I'm doing a cogeneration expansion project. For the existing cogen project we use Honeywell Experion for the DCS/SGS to monitor and control 4 trains of GTG/HRSG and 1 train of STG.

For the cogen expansion project, we plan to install one additonal train of GTG/HRSG. Hence we need to upgrade and install additional DCS/SGS software.

Is it possible to carry out the tie-in work online without shutting down the existing plant?

RE: Online Tie-In for DCS/SGS

Yes it is.

I have worked on many "hot cut-over" jobs. It requires more planning and equipment, obviously, as well as experience. The key for us was a very detailed cut-over plan, and a lot (and I mean a lot) of detailed communications and updates all along.

RE: Online Tie-In for DCS/SGS

Absolutely!  Its done all of the time in Petrochem / Refining / Power.  Units offline is money lost.
