Random vibration

Random vibration

Random vibration

(OP)
Hello,

I am designing bumper (which is made of elastomer) for a sensor for aircraft which is subjected to random vibration. I have to calculate the total load acting on the bumper for worst case scenario to be able to design the bumper. I have the acceleration PSD and rms acceleration values for the particular zone on the aircraft where the sensor is placed. Can I now just multiply the total mass of the sensor with peak rms acceleration at that particular zone to get the total force acting on the bumper?

Thanks,
Dinesh

RE: Random vibration

Hello dimmane.

No, It could be better to make a FEA of the bumper and make a random analysis. If you can not make this analysis, try to use the Mile“s ecuations. If you know what is the modal vibration frecuency and the ASD input(it is not PSD) obtain the rms stress and accelerations

good luck
