Obsolete Sheet Pile Section(s)
Obsolete Sheet Pile Section(s)
(OP)
I'm looking at a retaining structure, built circa 1950. The sheet piling was Bethlehem's AP3 U/arch pile. Corners, from old plans, were called-out as CP40, which I assume means "corner pile, 40" or similar.
I've got a couple of good resources showing my the properties and a profile of the AP3 pile, but nothing on a CP40. Web searching isn't pinning it down, though I did find a neat paper on interlock strengths (off topic, but interesting).
Thanks in advance to anyone out there is you can lead me in the right direction!

I hope this helps.

That's about as perfect as it can get! Thanks, bgce!
I know it's asking a lot, but can you post a scan of those pages here? I'll give you another star...

As one of the pages notes, CP 40 corners are preferred to CP 41 corners. My father taught me to ALWAYS design a traditional sheeting, rectangular cofferdam (per Arrangement I) with an odd number of sheets in each side to allow use of four CP 40 corners. As "Arrangement II & III" show, both a CP 41 corner and the sheets adjacent to it are unsupported - potentially unstable. This is not a problem with CP 40 corners, only the corner itself is unsupported, and it is relatively small.
bgce - If you have scans or a .pdf version of your Bethlehem Catalog, you can email it to me (address at the bottom of my homepage). I'll post it, with credit for the contribution to you.
