How to remove a polyurethane resin from a metal disc?

How to remove a polyurethane resin from a metal disc?

(OP)
Hi All . I am trying to produce a polyurethane resin casting of a bronze disc . The disc has grooves in it and after curing, the resin has got stuck in the grooves and elsewhere. I used a release agent but maybe didnt apply enough. I have tried heat cycling which worked to some extent but there are still spots of resin left in a number of areas. Can anyone suggest how to remove it without damaging the disc. a solvent perhaps? Many thanks in advance,Opticsman

Soaking in acetone or paint stripper will probably allow you to brush it off.

Dichloromethane is pretty good at removing most organic coatings. Nasty stuff to work with though. Methanol is powerful too. Both should have no noticeable short-term effect on metal.

I would give this company a call concerning your problem. I saw these folks products at a local paint and powder coating facility.
There are also some pretty effective urethane paints removers available from the paint stores.
