Eng-Tips Search function won't work for me

Eng-Tips Search function won't work for me

(OP)
Just wondering if anyone knows what I could be doing wrong.  Whenever I do a search on this forum it doesn't find anything.  I can do a search for the word 'the' and it won't find anything.  I have never had problems before, but the last two times I've tried to search it won't work.  I wrote a question to the website and never got a response.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

RE: Eng-Tips Search function won't work for me

Site Management is aware of the problem and are working on a fix. Till then use the Google search at the top centre of this page.
Also see thread559-188193: Searching again!

cheers

Thanks alot for the reply, at least I know I am not the only one having this problem.

You could have searched to see if this question had been asked before...

RE: Eng-Tips Search function won't work for me

If site management is working on it, don't hold your breath.  The search function has not been working for over 2 weeks.

A while ago something happened to my account here and I could not log in.  Over a time span of 2 months I sent 5, yes five requests from the "I forgot my password" link and I never received a response of any kind.  I finally just created a new account.  This all happened about a year ago and I have to this day never received a response.

RE: Eng-Tips Search function won't work for me

diamondcat ... There are several search links on these pages. If you use the one, you have to remember to select the Search Post (keyword) option. The default option is Find a Forum.

The Advanced Search link directly below the will gives other options and defaults to Full Site (All Topic Areas).

The Search link below the thread title (next to Forum in the grey toolbar) takes you to a search function similar to the Advanced Search, but defaults to the forum you are in at the time. Unfortunately, for some inexplicable reason, it does not work. That is why the search was introduced.

In all cases, conjuctive keywords like "the" are probably excluded from the Eng-Tips searches.

BodyBagger ... Just curious, what was your previous handle?

cheers

Does anyone know exactly what the issue is, why the search is not working? It's been a while.

Someone in another forum had said it was related to a new server system Eng-Tips is now using.

CorBlimeyLimey - If memory serves me my previous handle was Cygnas or CygnaxX1.

RE: Eng-Tips Search function won't work for me

BodyBagger ... Eng-Tips members are expected to give advice as well as receive it. Cygnas's stats (http://www.eng-tips.com/userpostsbydate.cfm?member=cygnas) show that, over the course of a year, all (except one) replies were made only to Cygnas's thread. Which means that no participation was made in other members threads. I'm just guessing, but that may have been a factor in Cygnas's account suspension.

cheers
