Gas Compressor

Gas Compressor

Gas Compressor

(OP)
We need to buy compressor for natural gas. It must be an a explosion-proof edition, and it must be transportable by road.

It will used to pump gas from one section of pipeline into next. Gas lines are in sizes 12", 20", 24" and 28". A length of sections is up to 15 km. Working pressures are up to 70 bar.

Upstream section must be pumped into downstream section in relatively short time (few hours).

Any suggestion what company sells such compressors (in Europe preferred), and what size (kW) is ok for this use?
Any info links?

Tnx ..

Compressor sizing will dependo n many factors, including your flow rate and upstream/downstream pressures, you can work with your compressor manufacturer to determine size & model.

Dario:

First and foremost:

1) YOU determine the volumetric capacity of the compressor that you want;
2) YOU determine what is the type of compressor that you want to use - centrifugal or reciprocating;
3) YOU specify the suction and discharge pressure(s) you require to transfill one section of your pipeline to the other;  you also specify what cooling media you plan to use;
4) With the above information, your selected compressor supplier will determine the kW capacity of the driver that you select.

As you can see, you have your work cut out for you.

Dario,

I know that Enerflex supplies equipment all over the world.

They can be easily found using google.

RE: Gas Compressor

A lot of pipeline companies have built their own custom pipeline transfer compressors over the years.  A company like : http://www.bjservices.com/website/index.nsf/P&S?openframeset   has units for rent.

The problem is getting enough horsepower to the site.  One company mounted Solar tubine with a centrifugal compressor package.  A centrifugal compressor has limited capacities so reciprocating units are used more often.  A 1000 HP gas engine driven compresor is very large, so most people have gone to diesel engine drives.  With a diesel engine driving a 3 stage reciprocating compressor, you should be able to pull the pressure down to 2 bara.

The design is like Montemayor says, you must set the criteria.

Try Atlas Copco.

You could also try Toromont.
